SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS

The last of the three prong approach is our school based programs. We take pride in educating the young to accept different cultures and take pride in offering a wide variety of arts and culture to the students of our community and surrounding communities. We offer mariachi music classes to elementary, middle school and high school students in an after-school program with close coordination with the local public schools Mariachi programs; outreach Conjunto classes and presentations for discipline alternative school students; in-school ballet folklórico classes which are offered to students in conjunction with music teachers, bilingual teachers, PE teachers; ballet folklórico classes in an after-school program; school performances during school wide assemblies and evening parent performances during PTA meetings; and Visiting Artists (visual, hands-on, music, paint, etc.).

Teatro’s activities have been approved by the School Board of Trustees as Extra-Curricular activities and is approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as an Afterschool Center.

TCA Artist in Residency

Teatro was honored to have visual artist Rey Lujan Gaytan offer water color painting classes to students in the Seguin ISD elementary, middle and high school. Yearly Teatro provides different art and culture classes to students in our community and surrounding communities. We are proponents of keeping art in the schools because of all the good it provides.
