Sophia Sauceda has been a member of the Mariachi Juan Seguin for the past 5 years and has excelled in mastering the violin, reading music, playing from memory and becoming a leader in the organization.

Sophia is also a Mariachi teaching intern with our beginner/intermediate classes. She is very professional and is always there to help make her students better musicians and feel successful. She can also be seen in class working closely one on one with a student who may be experiencing difficulties with a measure of music and on the other hand giving praises to students who have mastered a piece of sheet music. She also commands her class with little to no supervision by the directors. She is a sponge when it comes to learning about teaching students and implements what she learns from the directors she works closely alongside.

Sophia as a mariachi student is dedicated, determined, and always strives to do her best during rehearsals and during performances. She is a leader amongst the group and is highly regarded by her directors, as well as, by the entire organization. She comes to class prepared and does what it takes to improve each week. She also helps motivate the violin section to do their very best week in and week out.

Sophia has donated countless volunteer hours to Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin over the past 4 years by helping set up and tear down for numerous cultural events in the building. She has helped in different capacities during fundraising events and on a weekly basis sets up the Teatro building for all Mariachi classes that are held in the building.

We wish her well as she headed to Boulder, Colorado to attend the University of Colorado to major in Aerospace Engineering and minor in Mathematics. She wants to design/build planes and rockets using mathematical equations, data, and statistics. After graduating from college she looks forward to striving to earn her Master’s and PhD in Aerospace Engineering.
